Common questions about retirement transition consulting
Is this therapy?
No. Flourish is consulting. It is psychologically informed and supported by a licensed psychologist, but the focus is on preparing for and navigating your retirement transition, not on treatment.
Is this financial planning?
No. We focus on the parts of retirement that a financial plan doesn’t cover: identity, purpose, relationships, health and how you spend your time. Our work fits well alongside your financial advisor’s.
When is the right time to start?
Whenever you start thinking about it. Clients come to us when retirement is years away, when it’s just around the corner, and after it has already begun.
What happens in the one-time consultation?
We talk through where you are now, what’s changing and what matters most, take a first look across the five pillars, and leave you with practical next steps. It’s also a good way to decide whether the full program is right for you.
How long is the Flourish Program?
Four to five sessions, plus a comprehensive interview and validated well-being measures at the start. You finish with a written, personalized Flourish Plan.
Can my partner and I do this together?
Yes. Flourish Together is designed for couples, with individual and shared assessment and a shared Flourish Plan.
What does it cost?
Get in touch and we’ll share current fees for the consultation and the full program.
Do you work with clients in Buffalo and Niagara Falls?
Yes. Flourish works with individuals and couples throughout Western New York, including Buffalo, Amherst, Williamsville, Orchard Park, Hamburg and the rest of Erie County, and Niagara Falls, Lockport, Lewiston and the rest of Niagara County. See areas we serve.
What will I leave with?
Greater clarity about who you’re becoming, what gives your life meaning, how you want to spend your time and connect with others, and what you want to try next, all captured in your Flourish Plan.
